Philosophy
Every year law enforcement, security,
and military personnel are updated on a myriad of
self defense and use of force techniques. While they
value this much needed training, the training time
is often limited. Due to these time constraints it
is hard to practice these techniques on a consistent
basis.
That’s why we created Excel Defense
Studios. We offer law enforcement, security, and
military professionals several unique training programs.
All of our classes are taught by some of the most
qualified instructors in the State of Nevada. Master
Defensive Tactics Instructors and World Champions
in various fighting styles, just to name a few, who
are often called upon to instruct or lecture to law
enforcement, security, and military personnel throughout
the world.
Even if you’re not in law enforcement,
security, or the military we understand and are here
to train you too. Each day we offer a full slate
of defense training including programs for business
professionals, women, and children. Our full service
fitness center is open to anyone interested in just
getting in shape and/or learning and practicing martial
arts techniques. So no matter what you do or who
you are, you can train like a champ building your
strength, skills and confidence.

Programs
Excel Defense Studios is proud to offer
several unique, diverse, and comprehensive fitness,
martial arts and defensive training programs. All
of the programs are taught on site by our team of
high-skilled, certified or ranked professionals.
Muay Thai Kickboxing/Thai Pads/Boxing
Encourages the development of core
fighting skills of punching, kicking, and striking
with elbows, strikes with knees. With the use of
heavy bags, speed bags, focus mitts and state of
the art protective gear, this class teaches our students
the fundamentals and proper techniques of hand to
hand fighting. Required Equipment: 16 oz. boxing
gloves, hand wraps recommended.
Gracie Humaita Jiu jitsu & No Gi Jiu Jitsu
Gracie Humaita Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling
are primarily ground-fighting arts that involve both
fighters being on the ground with a heavy emphasis
on positional strategy. Positions are stable, from
which a large variety of specific techniques are
available to both fighters. These techniques are
designed to either improve one’s position or as finishing
submissions. Most submissions are either chokes,
arm or leg locks which are designed to trap an opponent
causing that opponent to “tap out” indicating that
that person has given up. Although traditional Jiu
Jitsu and Sports Grappling are different arts they
share many similarities. Training typically involves
significant amounts of sparring or “rolling”. Live
training against a resisting opponent is considered
invaluable in developing the skills and attributes
considered essential for high-level performance in
real-life situations. Required Equipment: Gi is required
for Jiu Jitsu. Shorts and a shirt or rash guard recommended
for Grappling.

E.D.S.CrossFit
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We've used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we dont change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. Thousands of athletes worldwide have followed our workouts posted daily on this site and distinguished themselves in combat, the streets, the ring, stadiums, gyms and homes.
We also publish the CrossFit Journal, designed to support the CrossFit community detailing the theory, techniques, and practice d by our coaches in our gym, in essence bringing your garage or gym into ours, making you a part of the CrossFit family.

Kid's Mixed Martial Arts
The Kid’s Mixed Martial Arts program
includes one day of boxing, one day of kickboxing,
and Jiu Jitsu on Saturday’s. Children are divided
into two groups: A) ages 6 to 9 and B) ages 10 to
14. The Saturday Jiu Jitsu class includes both A
and B groups. Children will learn self discipline,
build self-esteem, and learn the fundamentals of
mixed martial arts training. Required Equipment:
Gi for Jiu Jitsu, boxing gloves for Boxing and Kickboxing.
women's self defense seminar
series
This course is designed to teach women
simple yet highly effective techniques to help them
escape and/or stop a violent attack. Emphasizing
skills that improve the student’s ability to defend
against a larger opponent, each person who enrolls
in this training will achieve a new level of awareness
of their surroundings and confidence in their ability
to defend themselves. The Women’s Self Defense Series
a 4 day program that is held on Mondays and Wednesdays
at 6:30pm to 8:00 pm for two weeks. Cost is $150 for non-members and
is free for current members. Class size is limited.

Judo
This class will teach you how to transition from stand up fighting to fighting on the ground, in an attempt to quickly immobilize your opponent and/or attacker. By transitioning from one style to the next you will learn how to take advantage of your opponent's weaknesses and seize those opportunities that present themselves in a fight. This class is perfect for a street defense encounter where you will learn all of the aspects and dynamics of true self defense and real fighting.
